Weather Warning - School Closure Friday 18 February 2022

In the light of the MET Office RED warning both the Council and our Health & Safety advisors are recommending that as our schools are in the Red Warning area, we will be closing all day tomorrow, Friday 18 February 2022.

Storm impacts for North Somerset are expected from 3am to noon tomorrow with the red warning between 7:00am to 12 noon. The peak of the storm is between 3am to 1:00pm. The storm risks are flying debris, damage to homes and buildings, uprooted trees and rail lines closed with public transport disrupted. The Council have cancelled all home to school transport for tomorrow.

We also have an amber warning for flooding with a low likelihood of flooding but potential severe impact if realised. High tide tomorrow is around 8.00am and we could see the over-topping of sea defences from 6:00 – 9:00am. The EA have issued 5 specific flood warnings for Somerset and North Somerset for c 1000 dwellings and we have flood warnings for all coastal areas covering around 50,000 homes across the North Somerset and Somerset areas. Please stay safe and stay away from hazardous situations such as the sea front and potentially contaminated flood waters until the storm has passed.

Stay safe,

Jo Keeble, Executive Headteacher
