School Meals – inc Free School Meal Eligibility
What happens at lunchtime?
In the Infants, children have lunchtime from 12.00pm until 1.00pm.
In the Juniors, children have a 1:00pm until 2:00pm lunchtime.
All Infant children are entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal, but you will need to pre-book their meal choices on the Aspens Select online system by 8.00am on the day (although you can order weekly or monthly in advance if you wish). Alternatively, you can provide a healthy packed lunch in a named lunch box if you wish. If your child has a packed lunch, you will also need to provide a drink (no fizzy drinks please).
Junior children can also have school lunches, costing £2.80 per day or £14 per week (from 20 April 2026 this will rise to £2.85 per day or £14.25 per week). We are happy to operate a flexible lunchtime arrangement – you can opt for your child to have lunch on any number of days in the week (as long as you have selected their meal choice on the Aspens Select online system by 8.00am on the day, although you can order weekly or monthly in advance if you wish). All school meals are paid direct via Aspens Select. Please contact the school office for more information.

FREE SCHOOL MEAL APPLICATIONS
Changes to Free School Meals - September 2026
From September 2026, more families will qualify for Free School Meals as the Government expands eligibility.
Free School Meals are not just for children who have school dinners. We are encouraging all parents and carers to check whether their child may be eligible, even if:
- your child currently brings packed lunches
- your child already receives meals through Infant Free School Meals (Reception, Year 1 or Year 2)
- you have previously applied and were not eligible
- your circumstances have changed recently
It is important to note that while eligibility to Expanded FSM will be automatically granted to all recipients of Universal Credit, families will still need to apply to receive this benefit.
Please note that even if your child currently receives free school meals, parents and carers will need to reapply each academic year. Once approved, entitlement will be awarded for the full academic year, regardless of any changes in circumstances.
It is worth applying for Free School Meals if you think that you may be entitled, even if your child is Infant School age, as the school gets additional Pupil Premium funding for your child which we can use to help your child make good academic progress as well as pass on some of this funding to parents to enable children to access extended school activities, such as music lessons or clubs after school.

Drinks and Snacks
All pupils are encouraged to drink plenty of fresh water and are allowed to bring a small, named water bottle into school which can be refilled throughout the school day.
To encourage healthy eating habits, sweets are not allowed in school. Infant School children are provided with a piece of fruit or a portion of vegetables for their break through the Government’s Fruit and Vegetable scheme. Junior School pupils may bring a snack for their morning break (preferably fruit, not crisps or chocolate). The pupils also run a healthy tuck shop on a Tuesday which sells toast. For any children on Free School Meals they can get a piece of toast every day at break.
For Years 4,5,& 6 who have a second break, they may wish to bring an extra snack.
Please avoid bringing in any food containing nuts due to a number of nut allergen pupils in school.
In line with our Healthy School’s Policy, we do not allow sweets and cakes to be brought into school to share on children’s birthdays.
